As a Renowned Interior Designer in Lagos, Nigeria, what matters most to me is to ensure that my clients get the most unique appearance which is an end result of an interior design process while having safety, comfort and functionality in mind.
This enhances the appeal of your space. It takes seconds to decide whether or not a client is satisfied with the work done by an Interior Designer. At Simplinteriors School of Interior Design and Entrepreneurship, I train my Students to understand that in Interior Design, first impression is of utmost importance and has a long lasting effect on clients.
As one of the top interior design schools In Nigeria, this is a principle I inculcate in my students during my Interior design training. As a Professional Interior Designer getting the required knowledge from the best interior design training school is very important because just one interior design project can either lead to the loss of prospective clients, lead to customer retention or even a stream of clients through positive word of mouth.
In Interior Décor a house with real curb appeal lifts your spirit, it’s a house where the front garden is well-presented, the railing is in perfect condition, the door immaculate, nice Interior decoration Furniture, all fitted to give your home that unique appearance which always make its an option for friends and family or visitors. As the Creative Director of Simplinteriors School of Interior Design and Entrepreneurship which is one of the top interior design schools In Lagos, I ensure that my students are exposed to the important tools needed to improve and give life to a space.
Without further ado, below are the ways to improve the appearance of your home:
Paint Your Front Door: To individuals who are not into Interior Design as career, It may sound simple but as a Professional Interior designer who has learnt the rudiments of interior Design and Decoration this is the first thing to look out for.
At Simplinteriors School of Interior Design and Entrepreneurship, my students understand that your decision when it comes to colors counts. In the course of my Interior design training, I know that Strong or dark colors in full gloss are popular at the moment so black/brown is always a safe bet. For a contemporary look, matt, muted and washed-out colors are favored by clients.
Introducing Art Paintings: Art Paintings are important pieces in modern interior decorating represent a tool in interior design. Decorating spaces is vital in order to have spaces which are relaxing and more comfortable.
Interiors can be personalized through different ways depending on the result we want to achieve. As an Interior Designer, I believe that adding personal touches, makes your living space breathe artistic creation and style. This is why I teach all Interior Design Students to invest in buying paintings. I must add that it must blend with a particular artistic style, orientation and taste; paintings differentiate and significantly enhance the atmosphere in any space, it is usually considered an essential piece for Interior Decoration.
Invest In Quality Doors: In Interior Design, it is worthy of note that solid wood doors always have a strong presence and a lot of character, whether you use them for the entryway or for separation and enclosing various spaces. As a Facilitator in one of the Best interior design schools in Nigeria, I ensure my students understand that doors are extremely durable and resilient, which have natural elegance and that makes them unique. Whether you choose to expose the grain or paint over it, a solid wood door or one with glass insets, you’ll always manage to let them warm up the atmosphere with their beautiful charm. My Students at Simplinteriors School of Interior Design and Entrepreneurship believe that in addition to functionality, doors have an aesthetic appeal, turning them into real stylish interior elements. Some of them qualify as small artwork and are a great alternative instead of painting on the walls, leaving a unique, innovative and lush feel in your space. Lighting Is Of Virtual Importance: Lighting is of importance in any space as it changes the mood of a room just as it does the perceived size of a room. In any Interior Design process, light placement and type are important aspects of Interior Design and they work in conjunction with color selections, room size, availability of natural light and furniture selection.
When training my Students at Simplinteriors School of Interior Design and Entrepreneurship, I make it clear that the elements that come together when the right lighting is achieved can transform a room into a seamless combination of functionality and style. As an Interior Design Expert, it is okay to try out light before you commit; if they’re too big or too ornate they can look brash. I know this for a fact that the use of lighting can add to or subtract from the overall colors of a room or from only those surfaces the light is meant to enhance. Darker colors make a room feel smaller and cramped, while light-colored walls enlarges a room.
The illusion of space is determined by light reflected off of the surfaces of the walls. Some types of lighting help with this illusion by further illuminating the walls. In addition, directional lighting, such as a track light, can soften the wall colors. There is also recessed can lighting, which has a soft, downward glow that illuminates the floors, not walls. This is opposed to lights hung from the center of the room, which provide ambient illumination, or wall lighting. In both cases, this can affect how light or dark a colored section can appear.
The approach to your Entrance: In Interior Design, your entryway is an opportunity to sweep guests off their feet and leaves your clients wowed. The entryway sets the tone for any space. It is the perfect place to showcase any painting or sculpture, or an ornately tiled floor with a vibrant color palette.
Utilize this prominent entrance space to add elegant Decor details that will help to elevate the overall ambiance of your overall home design and Style and makes it interesting. In whatever training I give on Interior Design, I make sure to emphasize on the entrance, I ensure that the entrance is as spectacular as possible.
Also, I ensure that steps, a path and/or driveways are properly swept of leaves, and free from rubbish. Cars and bicycles must be neatly parked. Marble, sandstone or Portland stone can be use
for steps and paths. Porches can give an air of distinction but can become dumping grounds for clutter. Everything must be in proportion.
Windows: “Windows are the openings to the world, they allow light and the outside world to come in” once said an Interior Designer, just like myself. It is especially important to always take this Interior Decorating element into consideration.
Window treatments are the design element that can transform a room from cold and uninviting to warm and welcoming. Rotten window frames are also unacceptable and if you’re putting in new ones, make sure they are appropriate with the design of the rest of the house. As I tell my students, it is okay to try on other colors; I don’t feel you have to paint them white. This is one of my Interior design company statements for all projects we do that involve window treatment.
Windows look great in lots of different colors from stone to dark green to black. Also, bear in mind the color of the brick/stone work before choosing a window color. Finally, all curtain linings and blinds should match when seen from the street or driveway.
Adding greenery wouldn’t be such a bad idea: Plants is undoubtedly one of the quickest and easiest to liven up your Interior Décor. You don’t need to have a big garden; most buildings look beautiful with plants trailing up them. And you can easily make window boxes yourself.
Landscaped beds with colorful planting and box hedges set off the front of a house; or for smaller spaces, such as either side of the front door, planters with box topiary. Remember though that some plants are not good for brickwork as they can pull the mortar out of the pointing. As an Interior Designer, I recommend that for a more complex effect, you should think about the entire wall covered with greenery.
It can be an ideal solution for any undeveloped interior space. Thanks to this, you can independently decide on the size and shape, choosing the right plants that will suit the environment and create unique configurations.
Finally, the exterior of your home doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to look great. Be creative, use Interior décor ideas which are native to your neighborhood and locality.
